In terms of overall numbers, this was the best first split of our last five, and our 103 mallards were a third again more than the best of those years (75). But we only took full limits on 34% of our morning hunts, which is down from 56% last year, so overall hunter satisfaction may well have been down, as well.
My goose numbers were also down a bit from last year, but since moving to the marsh for my morning hunts, they've pretty much been lagniappe, and I've not put the ding in them I used to in the rice. Price I pay for taking a boat to work, instead of Pete and Joe.
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.
