Those slow days are still productive at least. Our place goes way up and down with the wind. Big wind, big hunts, slow wind, slow hunts. I haven't made it back down, but will be going this weekend. We still haven't killed a mallard other than black mallards. And the place is getting hunted every day.

Rick, I see you are killing a good many mallard hens and saw you posted about a group of all hens. I have been seeing the same thing up here in NE LA. We have killed a good many hens where no drakes were to be found. Weird..
We hunt just south of Gueydan and on our hunt this mornig we had noticed and spoke of the lack of drakes as well?? The majority of the flocks we worked contained groups of hens mixed with other species.
