Not familiar with area. But if you want to kill ducks get familiar. Scout! Go in the evening and take a morning without your gun and see where the ducks are going. Find a hole that looks "ducky" and put out a couple dozen of good quality realistic dekes. Try and use dekes of same specie of birds your seeing. My opinion is stay away from mojo's and get a good jerk string rig. Motion on the water is your key. Haydel makes a good dirty rice mallard and a DR-98 call. Good for beginners. Also wouldn't hurt to get a grey duck call as they are abundant in South La. Second split and cold weather should bring in more birds as season continues. Practice your calling and learn when to call and when to keep quiet. I always say never call at their face. Happy hunting and good luck!

That's it. Scout and then go where the ducks are. Could be mostly in open water. Could be in the swamp. Could be in the marsh. Could be in ponds. Scout to find them first.
