They were far from thick, but not thin, either. I had just one hunter, and we shot but 6 mallards. But we passed on spoons, jacks and squealers and weren't in the game with the few bunches of teal that came. That, and we got up against hen trouble early on and passed several of them and some mixed group shooting that might put a fellow who couldn't tell the difference on the wing in a bind. Was a pleasant morning despite not being one where we could afford to be so choosing and still fill out, and tomorrow should see better numbers.
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.

No More Excuses...

Friday and Saturday was very slow... So 8 hunters slept in... Me and the son headed out alone and things went well...plenty birds several flocks of 20 or more greys hitting the pond.. 33 degrees, clear skies, and a little wind..

Looks like a great hunt.......
Had my best Saturday morning........only one to get up and hunt ducks, others hit the food plots to thin the deer herd.

Slipped in a spot and killed a limit be 9 then worked some nice groups of greys.........birds have moved on to our place it seems

Our pace has been constantly dwindling each day. Seems all the rain has put water in places there wasn't any, and the birds are just thick where you can't get. Not a whole lot flying by any means. Might try and deer hunt fora change.

No More Excuses...

Can't recall ever having this many ducks that just will not move! Driving through the lease ducks are thick! Few hundreds yards from the blinds, but just sit and eat... Hunting has been hit and miss. Then we get days like Sunday when it's fantastic! 33 degrees, clear skies, and a good NE wind may have helped...
