Alexandria Area Duck Hunting

Postby lsu_engr » Thu Dec 20, 2012 9:53 am

Headed to Kincaid Lake near Gardner from Dec 27-Dec 31. Would like to know if there are any areas to hunt with just a kayak. Catahoula Lake sounds like I would need a motor to access any areas without having to paddle for miles. Any tips would be appreciated.

Cant help on Kinkaid but Catahoula is fine in a kayak. Pretty much the entire lake may hold birds at times. Launch at French Fork and paddle out. Only about 100 yards before you are in duck water. Be careful in a kayak right at shooting time. Lots of the locals like to wait until the last second and run out to their blinds in the gray light with no q-beam. Make sure to have a bright light if you are paddling in the dark.

Thanks. Nice mess of birds you had in your second split post.

What about Lake Iatt? Got some other advice that Catahoula in a kayak may be a death sentence...
