I got one similar to that to mimic a beaver dam, it fills up with snakes something fierce. Killed a lot of moccasins, copperheads and water snakes out of it. Killed a lot of ducks out of it too.

The folks who had our marsh before us were in the practice of doing something similar with broken over canes beginning low well out from the blind and working in and up until it ends up looking like a giant nutria mound. Worked OK, but snakes were, indeed, an issue. (Still are for the one carryover guide who dresses his blind that way.)
