Hunting in the marsh

Postby lsuengineer » Sun Dec 01, 2013 3:06 pm

Hey guys.

I have always hunted rice fields but looking to make a couple public marsh hunts via kayak.

General question that I know probably has no 1 answer:
I'm assuming that I will have to hunt from my kayak itself as most marsh I've ever encountered while fishing is nowhere near hard enough to stand on. Is this correct, or is there a trick to being able to hunt from land in the marsh.

Thanks.

I wear chest waders and sit on the ground next to a stand of grass. You could pull grass over your kayak. Good luck.

Find a good clump of grass and u should be fine. Ditching the kayak and making the trot to the brush may not be easy walking but most marsh is manageable.

Guess I won't know til I get out there but wanted an idea. Would a layout blind work you think? Best option on hiding I have right now I have access to.

Pull kayak up in grass and cover it with 12' sheet of burlap. No need to get away from it then.
