Ok, what's going on here? A couple weeks ago it was Wigeon and Gadwall - yesterday we shot a pair of Ruddy Ducks! I think I've broken out the LeMaster ID book more this season than the past 20 seasons put together!

Let's check the journal - species bagged locally to this point, last season:
Mallard, Black, Woody

Species bagged locally to this point, this season:
Wigeon, Gadwall, Ruddy, Ringneck, Bufflehead, Goldeneye, Teal

I haven't put the bead on a Mallard, Black, or Woody yet.

What's next? Canvasbacks in my backyard? I won't be surprised.

I have never seen a ruddy duck in maine, they do migrate through the state. How do they taste? I have seen nothing but woodies , mallards and blacks. I was pondering the lack of other species the other day in the blind ,location, location, location. Cannot wait for second season.
