Better day than me. I passed up a shot on a drake hoodie. Still regretting it, because I love the flank feathers for tying flies. But I just couldn't stand the thought of eating the darn thing.

Then after a move I had a big flock of teal come in, and whiffed with all three shots. Never saw another duck after that. I did find two new spots to hunt--and what a nice day to put 3 1/2 miles on the canoe paddle!

The common Mergs have a strong taste but the hooded mergs are fine with me.....Let them fly that is more for me LOL. I am seeing mallards but having trouble getting them in close enough. The blacks come right in but the mallards hold off. I am unsure why????

I had Mallards and blacks coming in all day but I couldnt get them in the last few yards into shooting range. Very frustrating, ended with no birds today and I think that tomorrow will be a day of rest.

Got out today after spending most of the last couple days on the couch sick. Managed one black but must say I was less than impressed with another party who was sky busting to the extreme. I kept hearing shooting and thought good for them, they must be in a better spot than me and then I saw a flock of geese that must have been 250 feet at least in the air and bang....***.....a group of mallards go by very high and bang bang bang.....I just dont understand some people.....Nice day to be out though

I agree with ya KI- it was a great day to be out. I left Lincoln just after 2 AM and pointed the FJ for the coast. Blacks were very eager to dump into the spread before legal shooting...always nice to see. After I loaded up and slid down into my layout blind, I remember thinking that the weather felt very "ducky"...nice breeze, mild, overcast with showers on the way...right on. The Mallards didn't show up in my spot like I'd hoped (I later found out where they were!), but did enjoy watching a lot of birds work the spread and managed a couple in the process.
Glad you're feeling better!
