At least that's what I thought when I arrived on location late yesterday afternoon. We have a small lake in the north zone that tends to stay open late every year- even when other larger and smaller waterways around it lock up. Goose numbers can be staggering here in November-and yesterday didn't disappoint. I was working nearby and figured I'd drive over and take a little peek. When I arrived, two massive groups of geese totaling close to 2000 birds were just picking up off the field where they had been eating and were circling toward the water. I hustled over to the water and watched them land along with what appeared to be a couple hundred ducks- many being Mallards. Sometimes you can't believe your eyes...I wish I was there right now instead of working on the computer today! The images are only from my smartphone, but you can get an idea of what things were like overhead...the noise was almost deafening...and I was loving every minute of it.
the things you witness and have no gun or camara..makes me home sick to move back upstate NY..it;s that way most of the seasons..a small corn field back there is approx 300 acres..and the farmers love us hunters..thanks for the picks..
