Anyone know why this goose's head is speckled?

Is it due to age or some other reason?

Not age- likely some sort of genetic abnormality. Either way, that is extremely cool...and would make a very sweet mount!
Back in October, I was scanning over a large flock of migrating Canadas and came across one with an almost entirely white head- neck down it looked like a normal Canada. There are some odd balls out there for sure...I've never harvested one though.
Congrats to you! :clapping:

To make it more unique, it had a band!

I'd love to see more pictures of this bird. I assume you reported your band online...where and when was it banded?

It was banded in '07 in Hiram, ME. Here are a couple more photos of it but I didn't think to get any with a good camera.

maybe part albino??? I know that sometimes deer have patches of white, but arent entirely white...
The worst thing about missing isn't the ridicule from your buddies, its the disappointed look of your dog

VERY COOL BIRD.

I've only seen something similar once before... it was early season about 5 years ago (bird was banded in 2007 but not in Hiram)!
