Upper Patuxent hunters ? ? ?

Postby Bay Bob » Sun Nov 20, 2011 10:19 am

Normally when we are not seeing birds near the mouth of the river (this time of year) there are some holding "up the river" .

So what are you folks seeing up there - - - hope you are getting some shooting - - - -

How about giving us downriver folks a little hope here

Lots of birds, nothing interested in even looking at a decoy spread. You better have plenty of motion and plenty of cover!!!! Better bring your A-game. The birds are educated! Oh, and you might as well leave the calls at home.

Did you use decoys with a lot of white on them i.e. buffies, bluebills, cans ? ? ?

I have not had much luck with anything else - - -

I had some buffle head dekes mixed in with mallards and woodies. As well as some geese on the side. Had quite a mix going on. But no interest from any birds.

Hunted just north of Spice Creek on friday. Good hunt, lots of birds. Just a bit too clear. 3 mallards, 3 gwt.
I'm shopping around for something to do that no one will like.
