Duck Hunting during a thunderstorm

Postby gkmack » Tue Nov 22, 2011 11:01 am

Hi All,

I have the chance to hunt tomorrow (11/23/11) and they are forecasting morning thunderstorms for the area I plan on hunting. Other than the obvious safety concerns, does anyone have any advice on hunting during a thunderstorm? I plan on hunting on the Shore in a tidal wetland.

Thanks

Birds do not like to fly in heavy rain - - - I think the raindrops at 40 mph might hurt their eyes.

But I have seen good bird movement just before and after a heavy rain - - - hope you have a dry blind or good boat blind with an overhead cover .

This time of year I would expect the T-storms to be pretty mild - - -

I probably wouldn't want to hold a long metal object during a T-storm.

Weatherman was wrong...rained until first light then quit and went from overcast to sunny. Saw some birds, shot a few, made for a great day!

Snapshotmd- Where is your sense of adventure?
