Well It's About Time

Postby Grey Dog » Fri Jan 20, 2012 5:08 pm

Looks like some nasty weather headed our way.
May sit out the O'dark-thirty routine until I can gauge the icing but will definitely go. Only two weekends left, so if the roads aren't too bad.....
Good luck to anyone else that (like me) is crazy enough to go.

one mallard, one black.

if it was not for resetting decoys, a prize tree planted in a bad spot and bathroom breaks (2 times) i would have shot at more. all ducks though. geese would not even give us a look. had one group sail over cupped up, textbook approach, only to keep sailing to next farm over. saw mostly singles and doubles.

geese numbers much lower than last year and patterns are all messed up. hope it keeps up for one more week.

I got out for the afternoon - didn't see a single bird in the air.

I was out in the pm. We saw a lot of ducks fly by, probably more than I've seen all season. A mallard drake flew in range but we both missed the passing shot. :crying:

We hiked it to the blind this time. Using a boat is SO much easier! Will not be doing any hiking anytime soon.

Shot a 5 man limit of RP geese on Monday this week, missed a spoonie, ducks didnt want hardly anything to do with us.

Thursday got 1 black and 1 green head, ducks wanted to stay off the middle of the river where i was at and stay closer to the sides.

Friday was a bust with some mallards and blacks coming in when we were standing around, but we ran into some issues for saturdays hunt and had to go fix things so we packed up early with no birds.

Saturday we got 17 geese, 1 band from ohio. Had some teal and 1 bull sprig come give our open water a look, but the mallards and blacks stayed out of range for some odd reason.

This week has definitely been better for us, I say thank you to the weather!
