In honor of it being almost Shark Week 2013...

Lefty, our buddy Blaine, and Ryan went beach fishin for sharks down on Assateague a few weekends ago. Thought I would share some pics since I dont have any ducks to talk about. All sharks were caught on tuna heads using stand up tackle, were measured, recorded, and tagged for NOAA research, then we drag em back in the water and release them to swim on their merry way amongst OC swimmers. Mine was 90", Lefty 108", and Ryans just over 100". All 3 were very nice healthy sand tigers

Neat shots Buzz.

Not 5 minutes ago, I saw a hilarious commercial for shark week where a rehabed seal is being released.

"It's a bad week to be a seal"

Nice!!! Did you yak the bait out a couple hundred yards. Bet it took a lot of weight to anchor your baits.

Yes, ive seen the shark week commercial, its a good one. And yes we kayak the baits out 400-600 yards out and drop them. We use some home made grapple hook style anchors

What size rods? Line?

You have a NOAA hookup?

That is one of the coolest things I have seen this summer.

6' stand up rods with penn senators. Ryan had one of the Avit big game reels, not sure which one. Different rods had different lines, we had a bunch of baits out. They varied but theres usually a bunch of heavy braid backing, topped with 80-100lb mono.
