I had the same experience out of Pennyfield during the early goose season. The creek changed a lot over the summer, so it might be a surprise for those hunters that only make it out a few times a year. The MARFC is projecting 3.4 by Saturday morning on the Little Falls gauge, that will be a nice improvement. If it stays low I guess I will break out the canoe and a set up paddles. Good luck to all on Saturday.

Well, I think my early season is shot by this weather anyways. Falling behind on work with the rain and the boss wants me to work both weekends and Columbus Day (supposed to have off-fed holiday). So I guess they are in effect taking the worry out of it for me

Sorry to hear that PSU. A friend of mine used to say that the question was whether he would be Deer hunting the week after Thanksgiving or looking for a new job.

Looks like I'm out for the opening split. :crying:

Came across this on the DNR Fishing reports page this AM:

Notice: Due to the Federal Government shutdown all of the C&O Canal is closed, including the boat ramps to the Potomac River. The National Park Service (NPS) has constructed gates at each access point, all are closed and locked. Access is only available at non-NPS ramps (Seneca, Whites Ferry, Brunswick Campground - maybe, Shepherdstown, and Williamsport).

Warning! If you plan to come to the river in a canoe, don't. Creeks are high and strong flow. River up only a few inches, but it's will be a hell of paddle. It's was a lil tough in my 16ft boat to get out today.

Did you go out of Pennyfield? Just came from there and it is up pretty high and moving fast.

Seen a handfull this AM so far. Lots of mirgating geese moving around. Even saw a snow a bit ago with a flock of canadas. Got on the board about 8 with a green head out of a flock of 4 that pitched in. Bad shooting on my part, I should have gotten at least 1 more. Hope everyone is being safe today

Morning was slow. Tried a new spot because of water levels and it did not work out. Stayed out of harms way. Looks like many of the river levels really jumped up over night.
