Talk to me boys...

Postby ohioboy » Sat Nov 23, 2013 10:24 am

I cant get out until around christmas time. I need to hear something. I miss that river. Tell me lies even. I have not picked up a shotgun since January 17th, and the last thing I shot was a damn squirrel.

You are not missing all that much on the river. Very few ducks and geese are hit or miss. Monday morning I shot the only 2 ducks that came by and was able to pick off 2 geese. 10 boats out of Pennyfield and it sounds like only 2 spots shooting. Hunted Wednesday and shot one ringneck. Only heard one other shot. Christmas should be a lot better.

I agree with cajun1085, the river has been hit or miss. Hunted Friday and Saturday evenings with no luck. Pennyfield has been too shallow to get the boat out, so we have been going out of Edwards and Senaca, but they are not my favorite spots. Although Saturday evening I saw the 2 large flocks of mallards which is the most ducks I have seen all year. Please bing on the rain and cold weather.

Definitely hit or miss. Was out last evening and didn't see much. Did see a few flocks of geese after legal shooting time.

Yo Ohio,

I've not been out yet but have a friend who kayaks the area a lot. She's been telling me she hasn't been seeing much.

Enjoy the twins...just sent my eldest to college (I believe you met him)...the days go by too quickly!

Just got back from 3 days in NY, killed 77 freelancing. 48 geese, 4 woodies, and 25 mallards. Hunted the river this morning, shot at some blacks, mallards, and after plenty of frustration, some lawn darts. Saw a few tundras that I couldve easily taken down. Scouted couple spots on the river once I was done and only saw a couple blacks and mallards here and there. I think birds will be in fields very heavy for the rest of this week.

Was out on the river yesterday afternoon and the geese were flying everywhere, it was one of the most active days I have seen this season. Not a ton of ducks, did see two large flocks of mallards flying very high and headed out. Good luck if any of you all make it out today or tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving!

managed 3 mallards Thanksgiving morning after the gas line in my boat decided to pop a leak and the boat wouldnt stay running. Went with option B and had to watch flock after flock of ducks dump where we wanted to be from a distance. My buddy that was with me went back out this morning and is on the X. Hoping he is getting into them as we speak, and as I sit here at work
