RP Geese are flying

Postby rmh » Sun Jun 01, 2008 4:48 pm

Since yesterday I've seen a bunch of flocks of RP's flying. As of yesterday at 5:30 AM their flight path goes right over my house. About fifty or so making enough noise to wake up the wife. Heard and saw different ones all day today.

The RP geese have been flocked up in this area for a couple of weeks.
Flocks of 10 - 50 have been traveling the valley several times a day.
I have only seen a couple of broods where we normally see dozens by this time of year.
My guess is that the flooding has been tough on the nesting and they have possibly given up....?
I am sure that the same thing has happened up the river (and creeks) from tidal areas to the mountains. We also seem to be down in some of the ponds in the area - normally we are covered by gosslings - now I only have counted about five broods. Same with the ducks.
Any other observations around the state?

I've seen a lot more goslings swimming in the last few days.
