What is there about it that makes you think Hybrid?

We've shot a few odd colored mallards and one of the responses I got from the biologist is that it might be a 2nd generation hybrid.

If that's a band on it's leg the biologist that banded it will be a better source to tell if it's a hybrid than a bunch of "old" duck hunters. LOL

Congrats on the bling, like DS stated, ask the biologist, Predominant mallard trait, the bill looks pale, might be 2nd 3rd generation hybrid but I dont think it would count as "other" in any bag limit.

As far as I can tell, everything about that birds says drake mallard. The band info will tell you everything you need to know. Congrats on the band. I am still waiting on mine

Looks like a blue billed mallard to me. I have seen a few, not shot but seen. Not sure what causes it.

Update us on the band. Age and location? I have shot multiple greenheads this year that aren't completely plumaged out. I have been hunting ducks for 15 years now and this is the first season that I can remember the drakes not being totally developed as far as feathers go.
