Nuisance permit for geese

Postby MIKE J. » Tue Jan 23, 2007 8:55 pm

Has anyone ever hunted under a nuisance permit for geese?

How does it work as far as limits and existing regulations etc.

I havn't seen the actual permit yet but would like to get some advance thoughts, ideas and guidance if possible.

Mike,

I did some looking, and as far as I can tell, a nuisance permit allows for hunting geese on these properties from March 1st until August 31st. With all typical hunting regulations to apply. I couldn't find anything about expanded bag limits.

Mass wildlife website.

i dont know about geese but about ten years ago i was working with a guy on his shellfish grant where he had lots of stock including mussels and the eiders were hitting it really hard and he got a permit to shoot all he wanted and never even picked them up...it seems soooo wasteful but you gotta see how bad they were wiping him out

I didn't think you could get a nuisance permit for federal migratory birds????
If it flies, it dies; if it's brown, it's down; if it swims, gaff it!
