Saturday hunt

Postby MassDecoyCarver » Tue Dec 03, 2013 7:29 am

My son (pictured) and I had a great hunt on the southcoast Saturday. We should have limited on Mallards but missed a few  One of the drakes is his first banded duck !

Nice picture and even nicer for lurkers. To much id in the picture allowing lurkers to hone in on the ramp. Great spot and use to hunt it but fed up with the sky busters and hit or miss crowds. It has been quiet this year but it only takes a hint to change that. Nice job and it is a great spot when you have it to yourself but competition use to be fearce with people set up all along that one spot, I am talking three groups all within about 150 yards.

Good advice, hadn't thought about the details visible in the photo. Of course you'd kind of have to know that spot to identify it.
We get down there 5 or 6 times each season, never had too much trouble with a crowd, always room to move if needed.

Thanks Joser,
Everyday that we spend hunting together is a joy and the memories last forever.
He's a better shot than I am (though I beat him at trap the other night, I shot a 23 round !) and I always make sure he gets the majority of the opportunities.

We had pan seared duck breast with a caramelized apple garnish last night,..very tasty !
Looking forward to the next foray afield !

I would rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
