Hey Deadeye, not a shot fired from any of those fields today. I heard 4-5 shots out in 33-44, probably somone jumping the marsh area, then 4 mallards high balled out of there into the refuge. The party in 21 pulled down 1 Black and 1 Mallard, just a couple of shots from the 1-2 area and that was it. Not really the best day to be out Duck Hunting, No wind, No Ducks.........................
I am not at all impressed with the way the corn fields are set up, and mostly not impressed with the way the MDNR planted them. On Harsens, our MDNR plants the corn rows with Sorgum and other stuff to create a really nice lot of camo that lasts pretty much the whole season in most areas as long as the deer don't eat it while its growing. The water level for motoring is very low, really don't even need a motor, the field was nicely flooded though. I didn't like the lay out of the fields, if someone has to leave early, you really have to walk by someone elses spread to get out if your in the back field, not sure if I like that at all, that problem is non existant on Harsens. Have you ever hunted the Island??? Going out tomorrow, will let you know how we do.

Nope never hunted Harsens. But yeah this year the corn was really low up by the barn. Most of fields have changed from recent years on how they were set up but I do agree they need more cover and it could probably be set up much better. Good Luck.

Had an awesome day at Harsens, birds were everywhere!! Wound up with 7 nice birds. It was very dark today with low fog and rain, it was really hard to see down your barrel with the low light conditions, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn today, good thing my partners can hit a few. Lots of shooting, ran out of shells!!!

Did you kill any birds out of area 2 ?? Went to Harsens, went almost last out of 45 parties, didn't hunt, but it looks like the kill has been up.

Yeah I know it sucked pretty bad. But I guess my dads buddy has got some fields full or birds right now but my dad is out of state for a few days so either Thanksgiving morning or that weekend we are gonna go shoot some green heads in the fields. Should be fun if it stays warmer and nothing gets too froze over.
