The Michigan forum here is pretty dead despite an early goose season and the youth hunt weekend in the books. So, ill kick things off for us with some pics from the season.

I took my 12 year old son, Gabe, up to manistee for the youth hunt saturday and sunday. He shot his 1st duck saturday morning and our dog made a flawless retrieve, dad was proud of them both! Gabe ran through a half box of shells proving his reflexes are slower than flying teal and I think he's hooked

Hey, Whats up Boom? Hows your season been going? You and the boy make it out?..You get a reservation for opener or what? I got day 2 am. Cant wait, lotta birds around.
I was only able to hunt the first weekend. Pressed my luck and went to a knew place and ended up wacking 4 on sat. and 3 on sunday. The best part is i only used 6 shells. Wether its luck or i am on either way i hope it sticks around . As far as my son goes he couldn't go with me do to football.

So you got the lucky dog draw eh? I haven't gotten drawn for a reserved hunt in a long time. Normally i put up with the crowds either on the bay or crow island. Glad to hear there are lots of birds around. You just make sure to leave me a few for the next weekend  .

7 birds in 6 shots works for me. Ill take that kind of luck/skill any day!

Yeah, i got a lucky draw i know that. Six of us applied and only 2(Uncle was other) got drawn. Pretty good odds from what ive gathered on a few forums. We're happy about it and cant wait to get in there. Unfortunately theres too many of us to get in on my Uncles opening morning permit, so ill probably be chasin geese(and hopefully some ducks) somewhere instead of fighting the crowds in the marsh. Did that last year and a few hoodies and a widgeon for our morning was a real buzz kill...Not to mention the mud flat drag with the boat at the launch. :fingerhead: ....Anyhow, im sure by the second weekend there will still be plenty of birds, just not as many dumb ones. Ill do my best to weed them out for ya. Ill shoot ya a PM and let ya know where we hunted and how we ended up.....Good luck when ya get out.
