New to the area and was wondering which would make the best duck boat to hunt Lake St Clair. Either a duckwater ocean or a layout boat.

Clarify, "duckwater ocean"!

depends alot on where and how your gonna hunt!
STIMULUS PKG THAT WOULD WORK: PUT A $1000 DOLLAR REWARD ON THE 15 MILLION ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN THIS COUNTRY, $2500 ON DRUG DEALERS, & $5000 ON TERROIST, $10000 ON POLITICANS !!!!!!

looked up the duckwater ocean boat, not experienced with it, not the typical boat that I think is used a lot out there. Like said before depends on where and when. if hunting the northern part in the flats...id say no....if in the middle of the lake id say its better suited for out there. Just dosen't seem like the most versatile boat. If one day the ducks or early in the season they havn't moved to the lake yet youre not going to be able to get into the shallows. Also, if you needed that boat to break ice...season doesn't go long enough for ice to form out there...unless it's the late hunt. 2 cents

Use both and hunt open water. The birds stay out in the middle on less windy days on the north end of the lake between Grass Island on the metro Launch. It will be mostly divers but in my experience the last few years on calm days they raft up out in the middle. Good Luck!
