Can't wait any longer for the season down here in Texas to start so me and a buddy are headed up to Michigan this Thursday to get a jump the rest of the boys down here. Going to be up there for the south zone opener this Saturday! We will be up there to hunt for 6 days str8 and was hoping you locals could help out a bit. We are both lifelong hunters of over 30 years each and we are needing a little direction to start in for our short stay. Marshall is where we can stay for free but will travel wherever to shoot the green! I have been doing a little research on the public hunting areas as well as reading a bit on the forum and need to know a bit more as to how it all works with the draw thing in the mornings, We hunt public as well as private down here but don't have the draw system for our public hunting grounds so if somebody could explain a bit more I would appreciate it. If any of you fella duckers would be interested in trading a hunt or 2 by showing us around then when our season starts down here I would be happy to take you on a few green timber Mallard hunts if ya like. From what I have read there are flooded corn fields and what we call down here Loks.(controlled flood plains). I have also noticed that the majority of the Mallard migration path in the past is east of Marshall for the most part. Am I rt about this or am I way wrong? I could go on and on but in a nut shell we were just hoping to get a little advice from you local guys up there if possible. Not asking for your honey holes! I know how that works out! Trust me. Just a little advice is all.
