How did everyone's opener go?

Postby NuffDaddy » Sat Oct 06, 2012 6:10 am

I'm up north for the opening weekend of deer season but I'm panning on getting out next week. Just wondering if I made the wrong choice. Haha. Everybody likes pictures too so if you have some post em up.

What area if you don't mind me asking? Not looking for your spot just in general. (inland, sag. Bay, st. Clair). We're you hunting divers?

Limited in 35 minutes Saturday morning. All blue and green-wing teal. Sunday was a little different. We only scratched three because we had a guy setup close to us that was blasting away at everything.

Not great but between three of us we got:
6 on Saturday:
2 mallards
4 Woodies

7 on Sunday:
2 Mallards
4 Woodies
1 BW Teal

So, not great, but I would call it a good weekend.

We hunted at Point Mouilee in the Lead Unit, lots of hunters but lots of ducks too. We got 5 teal, missed a lot.

Sounds like it wasn't too bad of a weekend. I'm heading out for the night In a few minuites. Hopefully there will be a few birds around.

There ain't no water!!! Off shore wind in the bay and im hunting puddlers 1/2 mile from the reeds. Got a raft of about 3-5 thousand divers out here though. Haven't seen a puddle duck or goose yet. Image

Sounds like it was a good weekend. Been hitting fish point the last couple days. Yesterday wasnt any good but today was better. Still not much for migration. It's hard to get a wet zone in there too.

Shooting geese, Mallards and Woodies but have not seen any teal or divers where I am at yet. the water is so low I could not even get my 13' canoe out to my "spot".

I've been seeing tons of migrating geese. A decent amount of mallards but they are mostly local. Been seeing lots if teal straight through. And a few woodies. Hopefully this rain will bring up the water levels and the north wind that's comming should help on the bay this week too.
