I've seen a few... Not as many as normal, but I haven't looked hard yet.

We also saw some birds I couldn't identify, and have never seen on this lake before. They looked like cormorants, but had different coloration than all the photos I've seen of cormorants. Didn't think to take a photo, of course.

Black, with no other colloration. They had mallard-sized bodies with longer wings and necks that were maybe 2/3 the length of the body About a dozen of them swimming on the lake in 10+/- feet of water. When I got close with the boat they flew away similar to the way a swan takes off.

Whatever they were I've never seen them on this lake before and I've hunted it for years.

Ok. Thanks.

When I looked up cormorants on the webz the shape and size was right, but all the pictures I saw of the ones that most closely resembled what I saw had white on the chest .

Going to get out and do some more scouting today.

Back on topic... lol im in the Grand Rapids area and the honkers are finally flying to feilds regularly to feed, and starting to go back to there same old loaf and roosting areas looks like a lot of geese had 2 brutes in our area. Early season is looking pretty good. as for ducks i think with all the water this spring it was a good hatch also I have quite a few puddlers in the honey holes around us i dont get to excited about it till november when the big fat mallards make they way down. we spend alot of time in saginaw bay untill then 10 days for opening week and then at least one other trip in october then we get seroius around home. Good luck everyone just get out there and scout there around :)

Good for you gooseman! good luck

Not looking that hot to your SW...
Even with all the rain, water is missing from most every hole, some still nearly empty. It looks like a lot of our holes have springs that can only handle maintaining not filling up.
I've got my fingers crosed for some good snow fall and a single snow melt this winter, to repleniosh the holes with a flash flood.

Goose population is looking kind of strong though, wont know for sure until next week...
