Middle Zone Opener?

Postby Up North Swamp Thang » Tue Oct 08, 2013 9:55 am

How did everyone do on the middle zone opener?

My dad and I hunted at our camp in Presque Isle county saturday and we both shot mixed bag limits. We killed mallards, redheads, ringnecks a black and a GWT. The shooting was fast and furious. The wind was perfect for our lake and the hunt couldn't have gone better. Even got a band on one of the mallards!

Sunday we hunted a farm pond in Emmet County that is usually good for a good mallard shoot this time of year and we never even saw a duck! I guess that's why it's called "hunting"!

At any rate, it seems like there were way more birds around than usuall on opening day. The two weekends I hunted in the UP before the middle zone opened provided decent numbers of birds in the straits area as well.

What are some of the other reports for the middle zone opener?????

Similar - Opening morning 11 Ducks, 1 Black 6 Mallards 4 Woodies
- Evening - 4 Woodies, missed a ring neck

Sunday - Missed 2 geese, lots of birds flying and moving, lost 2 mallards

Good numbers were seen and ready for some cold temps to bring them south.
