Anyone going to try open water for them seeing the corn fields will still be standing?

I'll be looking for alfalfa... But I do have a nice arsenal of floating honkers that will tempt me for sure.

The tough part for me will be scouting, the august goose zone is just too far away from my home.

Working on getting out NW of the cities but might be traveling the first weekend. Life will be good if our season is darn near 5 months long every year.

Not sure I want to be out in the heat. I wonder if this will effect the normal season. By that I mean I wonder if guys hunting geese will be pushing ducks off their hunting spots.

And what fields would even be open? A soccer field or other grass only field maybe all the crops will still be up.

OK guys, we're getting close to the August goose season. Who's got plans to try it out?
I talked to the best farm I have permission for in this area and he says there are definitely geese around but they're not flying much.

Contemplating my options..... game fair + beer, or a sweaty buggy goose chase. Thoughts anyone?

I still don't know what will happen. I'd like to just because, but don't have anywhere to go yet. Been working 6 days a week still accumulating funds so scouting will start after next week

Convince, make it be known. I plan to go if a work trip out of country doesn't get in the way.

Is anyone else having difficulty getting fields? I keep asking about alfalfa and they always shoot me down but say im more than welcome to the corn fields when they are cut. Granted corn is great for later and I am happy to have it. just find it odd I have only been able to get one alfalfa out of all the ones ive asked and gotten partial perm for...

Alfalfa is going to be a little tough to get on with prices the way they are right now but they can be found. I have permission on a few fields but they said absolutely no driving anything on it. Pastures are what I am going to bank on right now. I have some wheat fields also but not positive they will be out in time. I did lock up a golf coarse though which doesnt have any birds on it right now but owner says it usually will after the season starts. Good luck and happy scouting. It is going to be key!
