You don't like northerns? Lol.

Now I'm going to have to go shoot some lowly divers or something just to get a pic.

Oh, I suppose this is my brother from our opening weekend with a couple greenies

Gotta love trailer issues.

I looked at the hub of one of my trailers the other day. Forgot about issues I had last fall. Forgot we lost a bearing buddy. Drove an unknown amount of Canadia gravel without it. Fixed temporarily with an older set of bearings & dust cap I keep in the truck for such occasions. Went to NAPA with an old bearing to get new races, bearings & seals for both sides. Doorknob at the counter measured mine and said it was 1". Bought the set. got bearings packed, races seated etc. Tried to slide hub assembly on but it wouldn't fit. After measuring myself I learned 1 1/16" were needed. Got them swapped out but ran out of time. Can't get to it until Friday. Leaving Friday morning for a 600 mile drive to Canada. Nothing liked last minute repairs.

Opening day 3 man limit. Limits of Woodies, Blue-winged teals, GWT, and a lonely Hen spoony.
First duck hunting trip with my boy Nigel. He had a blast!

The races are the angled surface that the bearings ride on. They can be removed if they are scratched/gouged.

I should have went and helped ya with those. I sure didn't help the numbers that day, you lost a knife, the bearings went kaput, and you burned your gas and all I did was get a ride in a nice boat.

I have been terrible about taking pictures this year but here's a fun one of the decoy float test (sometimes those decoys look like birds I guess because they don't always float after a season) also the canoe float test

Got outta the beet fields and headed down to land of the lake homes. 3 mallards and gadwall this morning.

Image

I messed up not having the drake mallard in front. It's green head looked really good. It was a big bird.

Thanks!

Debating on whether or not I should drive to the South Dakota border and hunt all day tomorrow. Not sure.

I'm no gonna do it cause I had to work real hard today lol. I'm gassed.

Me and buddy got 9 this morning. Kind of a nutty hunt. There ducks landing out of range, singles landing in the decoys with flocks circling overhead.

Ended up with 1 blue wing teal, 3 green wing teal, 5 mallards and a pintail.

Yah just gotta stop shooting hens. I've been a brown duck slayer this fall and I hate it.

There are studies that have shown it doesn't have an appreciable impact on duck numbers.

Well that makes me feel a better. I still do my best to shoot only drakes. A lot of dangers associated with brood rearing so I feel like should cut em some slack.
