Y'all have a safe weekend. I'll be at home sick. Had to cancel the trip up north last minute.
No fun.

That sucks. I hate when plans seem to fall apart.

If it means anything, I will be at a 7 year olds birthday party.

Saturday morning was pretty good. The birds did not work as planned so we were mostly pass shooting. Made for some fun fast shooting. Good day!

Thanks. They are getting much easier to pick out. We had nice sized flocks all morning, mostly mallards. Great time.

Some get stained from schitty water etc. Was it shot with any of the others in your pile?

There are also a lot of color mutations in waterfowl.

Looks like a mutation to me...the "base" color (non-tan) is lighter than the one next to it.

Also I have seen similar but way less extreme on late late season green heads but I always assumed that was from the minerals Or iron in the water way up north

Interesting that the mis-coloring goes all the way up the neck. I have shot a lot of geese late in the year around Monti that have bellies just like that, and I always assumed it was from the ash ponds at the coal plant in Becker, but that could entirely be wrong.

Ya it's really hard to see from the pics but he also had some miss color on the cheek patches as well you have to really zoom in to notice it
