Sometimes you get lucky

Postby Gunnysway » Mon Sep 30, 2013 11:09 am

Truck was up on the rack this weekend, which meant a lot of sitting around the house playing with myself.

Sunday morning my wife insists I go with her to The State Fair grounds to an "Antiques show"... :fingerhead:

I know what you're thinking... pu$$y...

I know that's what you're thinking, because it was the first thing I thought of...

"Man... I better keep this to myself, as the guys I know will give me enough crap, even I will be trying to figure out what gender I am..."

BUT.... "Happy wife, happy life" and all.

We get there, and after a few eye gouging, hair pulling hours, I see some beautiful hand carved decoys. It was bastion in a sea of boredom... Finally, something for someone with a set, to look at. I spot a couple of boxes of calls marked $12 and $7 respectively. The $12 box was full of wood calls from Herters and Falks. Nothing I needed in there, as I'm no "collector"... I'm an acquirer.

I then start rifling through the $7 box... and decided I should go purchase a lottery ticket. Sitting in this box were calls from Buck Gardner, Primos and Quaker Boy... At the bottom I find these two little ba$tards. I offer him $5 each for two ($10), and he bites.

So... moral of the story is...

"Antique Shows" SUCK!

But every now and then, even a blind squirrel will find a nut... If his wife makes him...

Nice score, I wish I got my half bread and supermag for 5 bucks a piece lol. i once got 18 g&h floating honkers for 8 bucks a piece. That was back when your only options were flambeau "stuck up" geese or super flimsy carylights. That was my big score.

TG Half Breed.

The Winglock is mint, except it had strange resonate cavity guts in it. Switched 'em up with the only guts I had laying around (Foiles) until I can have Rick send me out some of his.

The Half Breed is stock. Just some minor wear.

Sorry hillbilly. I was in an "antiques comatose" for most of the day, so I wasn't paying attention. The dude had at least 30 of 'em (Herters calls) in really good condition, some in boxes.

No B.S. here.

I put a call into the events planner at the Fair grounds... so I'm hopeful she will be able to help.

I'll let you know if I hear anything.
