Well my season may be over before it even gets started. What a crock   98% of what we hunt is refuge, time to start researching some weekend trips.

The link didn't work for me. Maybe it's my phone's browser?

Not positive. Heard a lot of rumors, this was the first I have seen anything in writing for my area. I know this article states Winona and LaCrosse area. My assumption is it will be all US Fish and Wildlife land across the country. I have read articles out of Lousianna and Arkansas saying the same thing.

Does anyone know if this will affect Waterfowl Production Areas? Thats the only places I have to hunt as I dont have a boat and there arent a whole lot of Wildlife Management Areas near me where I can walk in and hunt.

I would tend to agree but some places might have closed/locked gates.

But if it is public land, how in the hell would it not be open to the public? And who is going to enforce it not being open?

The way the Star Tribune has it is that all WPA and National Wildlife Refuges are closed to hunting, pretty much all federally funded land you are going to be SOL until them over-paid A-holes get their head outta their ***.

Contact your legislators. They don't have to close them. They are choosing to do so to make it as painful as they can. It's BS, who paid for the land? You and me. The Federal Government has no Constitutional authority to own it so its all crap from the start.

I for one would have no issues hunting a WPA anyway provided I didn't have to damaged a gate or something to gain access. I guarantee they won't have closed signs on every WPA access point.

Yup, pissed beyond all belief. Was going to try and stick a deer during the split, but the nwr 7 minutes from my house is closed. Complete bull S... The ones who got it shut down by them not doing their job, are still getting paid. Explain that one

The fall flights website is down too, so no more aerial surveys either.

I hope this smooths out real soon

Just remember that all Conservation Officers and Peace Officers can enforce the trespass law, could be a quick fund raiser in some areas.

During the shutdown all USFWS owned lands including refuges and WPA's are closed........enforcing that rule on that much land may be a challenge!!! I also have not seen anything on the news or any a press releases so I doubt they will be handing out tickets even if you are contacted! Have fun and play dumb!!

I called the CO in my area and he told me all WPAs are closed for public hunting. And said he was not ordered to I force any trespass laws at this time on those areas.

I also called our USFW director in my area and he said be was ordered to close all WPAs to public hunting. What a bunch of poop!!!

Confused...he said he would or would not enforce trespass laws? I have not ran into one that I think would but haven't called any.

What are they doing to do arrest you? They all are not working anyway so who is enforcing this. They are just trying to make it painful so the other side caves in. If you are planning on hunting one this weekend I would not worry about it at all.

Give you a trespassing or theft of services ticket (the later of which screws you over good for a long time, I know first hand). And the COs and sheriffs are state people, so they are working, and enforcing.

Glad I changed our plans from out west to north last week.

Fire them all!

Clear the deck and start a new.

Supposed to take a guy out for his first hunt. I told him I couldn't promise him birds, but I could promise we'd give 'er hell. Might not even get to do that.

Had planned on a WPA. Not so much anymore. Hopefully the WMA's aren't totally stacked this weekend.

I'd love to take one of these idiots...I mean politicians...hunting. If ya know what I mean.

I'd go in and play the ignorance plea if a C.O. shows up. No way it would stand up in court if they did write you a ticket. Some times you have to rebel and I think this would be a good thing to stand up for.
