Snow Geese

Postby TheConservationOfficer » Fri Oct 18, 2013 10:46 am

Does anyone know where/if the snow geese come through MN? I've heard they go through around Big stone, is that true?

I hunt quite a bit in milbank SD (15 miles west of big stone) and never see any snows.

nope. I like the name though. The conservation of our hunting grounds needs to be done, and I like to do so in my free time. A Conservation Officer is my dream job!

I have shot snows in MN, but the majority of them are west of here. I have got into them field hunting Lake of the woods. There will be in the thousands, but mainly they get mixed in with the canandaz! Hope this helps!
We'll drop the dog of at I-Falls and run him to Baudette. Then, he'll be ready to hunt.

Saw a flock of light geese by my house an hour west of the cities. And saw another flock today while hunting by Montevideo.

Over the years I have shot a few in MN. The further West the better. Bagged a few just West of Little Falls. Almost all were encountered just after a big storm with high Westerly winds.

I saw a few groups of snows this weekend in Big Stone County. Great variety of divers and puddlers moving though too. Some canadas, but not big numbers.
