I will be heading to SD this coming weekend, just curious if anyone knows or has heard much on how bird numbers are looking?

I've got family over in that area. All private land hunting, but every hunt has been a limit.

Good luck.

Not hunting as far north as sisseton, but we've gotten gadwall, wigeon, pintail, and divers moving into our area every time the north wind blows. Mallards are local but grouping up providing for some decent field shoots. Geese are thick in some areas, void in others.

Go to the gfp homepage, under hunting tab click "purchase a license", when that page loads click "purchase online", enter your login info, hit enter and you should get to a page that has 5 options listed, one being "view licenses" click that one and you should be able to print. If that doesn't work, just call 605-223-7660 and ask them for help on printing your license.

Some areas are holding really good numbers, some aren't. Probably peak migration right now on gadwall and wigeon.

Hope you had good luck with your hunt.

Had some friends/family go for a hunt in NE SD this weekend. Only 12 birds for 3 days with accurate shooting. They were bummed. Made me push my license date back a couple weeks. Hopefully hit that golden hour right before the freeze.

Last year we had some really nice hunts right around the 2nd or 3rd weekend of Nov. Lots of big birds hitting corn fields and absolutely had some great hunts. I don't have a sd license this year but that is probably when I would choose to go. First week or two of Nov.

I hit SD on Friday. To me scouting is most of the hunt. Decoy setting and shooting are icing on the cake.
