Last chance

Postby chevyobsession » Tue Oct 29, 2013 4:17 pm

Due to work and other things this will be the last weekend I can get out and hunt ducks. Anyone have an extra spot for me. I have goose mallard an diver decoys. Boat, blind, walk in. Don't matter to me. Just want to get out with someone other than myself.

Nobody. I'm not trying to steal a spot. Just want to get out with somebody for a hunt before my weekends are overtaken by work and prior obligations. I live in a buffalo lake which is 25 miles southwest of Hutchinson. I would be willing to drive an hour or so to get to the spot.

I went out on a lake where I can hunt without a boat. Usually ok for ducks. Only saw two flocks of ducks and 4-5 flocks a half dozen geese. The geese swung by for a look but ever even hinted at coming in. The ducks were moving with a purpose and didn't even slow down. I did have a pair of woodies come right in after they got jumped from a ditch. Pulled up on the drake and as I pulled the trigger the hen dropped right in front of him. Needless to say I saw my wall mounter fly away while his lady friend lay dead in the decoys.

I feel your pain. I was hunting last week and had a pair of very colorful wood ducks drop in and my buddy and I dropped both of em. Of course, the hen was shot dead and the drake started swimming off. No dog that day, so I had to chase him down and had to swat him before he got to the cattails or I never would've found him. Probably the best looking drake wood duck I've ever bagged, but I totally brained him on the swat. I wish I had the $ back in the day, I've bagged plenty of nice drake wood ducks but didn't have the money back in college to put em on the wall.
