Anyone chase snows this spring?

Postby goldfish » Sun Mar 02, 2014 12:27 pm

My coworker wants to get his dad on a snow goose hunt. I guess I agreed to it as well (oh darn). Anyone hitting then this spring? Anyone have a good lead on guides? We have zero gear. Anyone making a go of it on their own?

A guy at work keeps saying we should go in the spring, but I'm busy until the end of April so not sure if that would work out or not...

I really want to tho.

Gonna go out jump shooting hopefully a lot this spring since I won't have to travel very far. Might invest in a small amount of socks with a couple buddies. It would be a spread barely big enough to be worth hunting over this year but would look to add to it every year.

I wont be but when I did I was around Sand Lake,SD. I doubt that area will see any geese this year until at least April with the weather we are having. It will probably be a quick hunt when it does happen since I assume they will come really late.

Good luck TomKat, leave a few for us, and stay safe if you got hit with the ice.

Sound like the next 10 days are the days to be in SoDak. If anyone has a good lead or has room for 2-3 guns. Please let me know. Not afraid to work and can afford to pay some as well. Have layouts but no dekes or calls. Goldfish what you end up doing?

I am heading to the bahamas on Thursday! Yes! But I guess South Dakota does not have that much snow and the geese may be moving in. I was surprised to hear that but I guess its true.

According to the snow maps SD is almost entirely clear of snow. When do you think they will get to ND? I know they usually follow the snow line but how far are they gonna push north with all the water froze solid? I guess they don't need everything opened up if there is sheet water all over the place.
