I finally got my first Pintail last year out in SD great color to him but hardly even could notice a sprig. Would still love to get one with a nice sprig.. That and a big Can/Red Head. Still haven't gotten either of those. Other than that I think I have shot almost every duck that comes through MN

THE OLD MAN FOUND IT NECESSARY TO DIALED BACK HIS EXPECTATIONS, GOALS AND DREAMS IN LIFE DRASTICALLY SEVERAL YEARS BACK. NO PITY ASKED FOR NOR WANTED. HAVING SAID THAT MY GOAL IS TO TO RECYCLE TWO OLD DUCK BLIND PHRASES. THEY ARE BOTH SHORT BUT SPEAK VOLUMES. THE FIRST IS, WHEN I AM ASKED, "DID YOU SHOOT?" TO REPLY WITH THE UTMOST SINCERITY, "Not, much". THE SECOND PHRASE IS TO BE USED WHEN ASKED, WHO SHOT THAT BIRD/ BIRDS? "i am just batting clean up". MAY I SUGGEST YOU TRY THESE TWO LINES IN THE DUCK BLIND NEXT YEAR. IT MAY BE HELPFUL TO PRACTICE IN FRONT OF A MIRROR. ALSO A "A nice shot, (buddies name)", RIGHT AFTER YOU DROPPED A BIRD BEFORE ANYONE HAD THE CHANCE TO SHOOT IS ALWAYS GOOD FOR A "%#&? you" THE OLD MAN

Well 2nd shot you may have slowed down compared to you 20 years ago, your still, as always, welcome in my boat. I think I should remind you and also tell everyone else here a short story from 2 years ago, me, you, tommy and Justin were up the river in a horrible wind, we had at least 15 teal in the blind, a single pintail came thru the decoys and you smoked it, you smiled a little and said "the old man can still shoot". Wish I had it on tape. your still the only guy I have seen , with my own eyes, triple on geese, then load up another shell and drop a 4th one. I've tried to recreate your trick of throwing an empty can above your head.and.shoot it 3 times, each shot sending the can higher. I still can't do it, and I try all the time.

This year I am tempering my goals a bit. Not necessarily in this order, but I really just want to get out enough to get the pup some good work, save a few birds to work on my taxidermy, enjoy another season with my dad, and hopefully meet some of the other folks on here.

Completed a few this yr including, one of each duck that I can recal that flys through MN (excluding sea ducks and cinnamon teal), shoot first snow and speck (only ones I have seen in MN) and have a blast with my five hunting buddies. For 2014 im hoping to train my new pup and get him in the feild, put a couple ducks in the freezer (goldeneye and can) and shoot some snows this spring in sw MN!

2012-2013 I shot 0 geese. I made it a goal this year to shoot a few. I ended with 60 Canada's (all public land), 3 specks, and one snow.
