Bahaha. Wouldn't it be fun to be in a dogs head when they are trying to figure things like that out?

Well good weekend beer didn't agree with me so I did a little swimming with kids some fishing with son and daughter of dock. Then evening trolling for walleys with son wife and cousin. Wife caught little. Hammer handle she was happy because she don't normally catch any thing. I caught a sunfish I got stuck with a bait caster and a not so sensitive pole. I'm not a bait caster fan. Maybe because they stick the handle on the wrong side. Not sure I got 8 of them and they collect dust. Kenneth caught 2 bass and a big FAT sunny But he was at the cabin all week and just put a hurting on the sunnies.

Anyone know anything about cleaning and cooking snapping turtles? Is it even legal? I think I read online somewhere it is just not in May and June but it didn't look official. I'm not gonna kill one just cause its really annoying me, but if its legal I wanna kill it and eat it.

Everyone I know that's made turtle boils it in a seasoning and from there I'd imagine you could eat it that way or frying pan it, batter it or what have you! But boiling is key I think for softening the meat and killing any bacteria. But I ain't turtle cooking chef!! Good luck.

Legal Dan.

Think you are correct on the months it isn't.

There was a thread in the honey hole on cooking.

Chop the head and hang to bleed out. Lots of work getting to the meat according to my dad. I haven't gotten to catch one but I want to.

We used to eat lots of turtle, I think mostly in stroganoff but maybe other ways as well.

Yea there laying eggs in them months but I normally like to let them flush out in clean water for a week or 2. And I have been told there's 7 kinds of meat in them? But clean in can be a pain.I have cleaned several. It's almost a 2 person job. You can split the shell with just a knive were the belly plate meets the main shell ts like a cartilage.

Ok cool thanks for tip. Yeah I got a nice spot I can't some decent bass, but I cheat and use suck minnows. We catch really big but I keep catching the same snapping turtle and it drives me crazy. Catch one or two big bass and the turtle shows up. Image

I was fishing the river on night and was leaning over water. When my car keys fell out of my sweatshirt pocket in the water...thinking a sheet.. well when I was doing a one armed push u so I wouldn't fall in the drink with my arm deep digging threw the rocks looking for my keys I looked up and a couple feet away was a snapping turtle and his head was as big as by fist scared the he'll outa me. Found my keys though. Then 10 min later I hand caught a 10lber

I lost my car keys the exact same way one time except down an ice hole.

They are actually a lot more docile in the water than you might think. On land I don't mess with em, some people do they are tougher than me tho. I cut the line right below my split shot tho, it was my last big split shot. That was kinda scary.

In previous years in this same spot I had been catching this giant stupid softshell turtle, guess the snapper must have muscled him out maybe lol. The softshell turtle let me get the hook out but man he was not happy about it.

It's not the biggest I've ever seen them but it was bigger than most big ones I've seen.

So if a girl says that to you, do you take it as a compliment?

Was talking with the neighbor last night, big deer guy. Any ways he used to chase birds and we got to talking about calls. He threw me a couple of Illusion calls to mess around with, anyone know much about them. One is the short reed and the other is the flute with the weird finger hole on it.

Web didn't offer to much other than the hole is used to break the note and allegedly you don't need back pressure to work the short reed.

Inexpensive calls. Nothing special, but they will kill birds. I think we used to retail them at around $15 to $20... but that was 8 years ago...
