What irritates me about the teal season being turned down is this. The DNR seems to have an overwhelming need to conduct studies for various things. Then they do more studies, then study the studies. Why are they just throwing the idea if a teal season out the window with out trying to come up with some up to date data on the subject.

or require circle hooks and release.

Has anyone tried circle hooks for rigging walleyes? I've used on cats but not walleyes. I ask because my favorite lake in my area.has a slot limit, I learned quick I gotta set the hook almost immediately after getting picked up to prevent having an eye swollow the hook, I miss alot of fish because of that.

So the DNR "Knows" we would kill to many other ducks and won't give us a Fed approved teal season.

Yet they will shut down night fishing and threaten catch and release only on Mille Lacs and proceed to say that tribal netting has "no" negative affects on the walleye population.

Who do they work for again?

Do you really think netting, which has been going on for decades, is the critical issue? I agree it has some impact, but I have seen zero studies that say they take an amount even close to the rest of us. Granted, I have feelings about them being able to net at all, but I don't think they are the main problem with regards to changes in walleye population.

No I don't place blame 100% on the tribes...but the report I heard on MPR had the DNR saying it had no affect. If you are going to pretend to be serious about an issue, then by God call a spade a spade and don't tell me that taking fish that are going into spawn isn't affecting a population. Have the balls and shut the whole damn fishery for walleyes down until you figure out what is going on, or require circle hooks and release. If you want walleyes then liberalize the pike and small mouth fishing. Don't do this pansy assed, feel good, we are doing something but not really crap.

Just bugs me that the DNR treats the tribes like grandmas crystal vase.

In case you can't tell I have some serious issues with tribal netting.

The DNR is between a rock and a hard place with the tribes. They have zero jurisdiction to limit the tribe quotas based on my understanding of the court ruling. They can certainly ask, but that's about it.

Then the dnr should let the tribes worry about the fish populations and stop wasting money on it when all of sudden theres no more fish to net.

That'd be an idea, but it would absolutely bury the resort owners and guides up there who are already hurting, and then the DNR would hear about that.
Rock and a hard place is exactly where they are, and they only have a shovel to get them out of that hole

Mille Lacs would be a dead sea in the time it would take me to drink a carpi sun if that was to happen.

i thought the DNR could shut it down if things got bad? Granted it has been a long while since I looked at the treaty ruling stuff so I might be confusing what I have read with interwebs bs.

'Mornin fellas.

Who's gonna be sun tanning this Sunday? I hear it's going to be close to 60 degrees around here. I think it's time to dust off the Bermuda shorts and flip flops. Can't wait for the glacier in my back yard to melt or recede, or whatever glaciers do...

Is it just me, or is crow hunting a difficult hunt? I've only been a handful of times, but damn are those birds smart...

crows seem to know when you have a shotgun and when you don't :fingerhead:
I've pillow-cased a few while out for pheasants or ducks but they do tend to skirt gunrange when we're seeing them from the blind...

Of course in my workplace parking lot and in my backyard they will hang in the wind 20 feet over my head. They are one of the most entertaining birds to connect on a really close range shot with a tight choke. POOF!

That bird definetly isn't a Minnesota grad.

Maybe he's a hawkeye? Kinda looks like Herky.

At this point the fix requires more time than I got. The leak is in a bad spot that require a bunch of lines to be pulled out. I gots to go to work for at least part of the day, and mama wants hot water.
