Calling Panther Lake Opening Date Set

JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced that Calling Panther Lake will be open for public use at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006 . Calling Panther Lake, a new 500-acre state fishing Lake in Copiah County, is located west of Crystal Springs.

The lake was stocked with bluegill, redear, Florida largemouth bass and channel catfish in 2003. Anglers must have in their possession a valid Mississippi fishing license before going to the lake. Licenses are not being sold onsite. Annual or daily fishing permits are required and will be sold at the lake. A boat ramp and paved parking area is available for anglers. Improved areas for bank fishing are limited, and camping is not available at this time.

To reach Calling Panther Lake take Hwy 51 to Crystal Springs. Turn west on Georgetown Street. Travel 1.1 miles to New Zion Road. Turn left on New Zion Road and go 5.1 miles to Gaddy Lane. Turn left on Gaddy Lane and go 1.8 miles to the Lake Entrance Road.
There's a reason it's called huntin' and fishin' instead of killin' and catchin'
