Spinning Wing Decoys

Postby Cephous » Fri Jun 23, 2006 2:13 pm

This came up on another forum and I asked the question of the MDWF&P.
Mississippi has not outlawed spinning-wing decoys. I also wanted to know.....
There's a reason it's called huntin' and fishin' instead of killin' and catchin'

I will use them early season, but the later in the season, the ducks have seen way too many of them in my opinion.

Ive never used them, and dont really plan on doing it any time soon. Ive shot plenty of ducks without it, and it seems like just about every other hunter out there has one.
Waterfowl hunters are alot like birdwatchers, except after watching for awhile we start shooting!

I have a Mojo that looks like he's landing and a Mojo that floats on the water. I don't use them anymore, early season or second split. I believe they flair duck's away. The duck's have seen them in every spreed of decoy's from Canada to down here in south Louisiana. I feel I can't afford to flair off the small amount of ducks we do have to shoot at down here.
I have started using swimming decoy's they are more realistic and they work great.

Louisiana: great food, great folks, great huntin'

I just wish we would follow Arkie's lead and band the use of all motorized decoys I mean if you want movement get a jerk string
