I have a black and had a chocolate and like them both. The silver is sharp looking. My wife said she would be willing to get rid of her dog, a Pyreneese, to get one! Decisions decisions!

It makes me sick, people like that are trying to ruin the breed. That is the stupidest thing since a gal dang labradoodle.

If you want a dog, buy a damn dog. Don't buy a gimick, your only asking for trouble.

The silver Lab is a geneticly flawed dog the same as the chocolate and yellow labs were. Now people are trying to get this coloration to be recognized as like anything new/different there is a sale for it. This has led to the ruination of a few good dog and horse breeds.
Build memories, take a kid out doors and teach them about nature by interacting with it, hunting and fishing.

Learn from the past, don't dwell on it.

Ace I am not looking for one. I saw a pic of one on the du web page. They have been around since the 1940's. They are still considered a chocolate lab. just like the other fella said about the genetics. Black was the original then yellow and chocolate. People with silver labs are no different then people with white or red labs.

on their web page they say they're pure bred labs. if they are, I don't see whats wrong with em It also seems that the page is selling them as family pets not as hunters so I don't think it matters that much if there just a house dog.
thanks to the men and woman of the United States Coast Guard- without them I would not be here.

I'm thinking that these dogs were probably cross bred with Weimarieners(sp) at some point in history to give them that silver coat. Just my opinion.

Weimaraner crossbreeds aren't supposed to come out silver, they turn a blueish color. That's how they can tell if they're purebred. If you go onto some sights people are selling "blue" weimaraners as if they were special. They're actually defective. The first thing I thought of was that they looked like the same color though.

Silver labs look neat, and if they hunt I'd use one. If they continue to breed with hunting in mind I don't think it would be bad to own one, but I personally wouldn't breed them.

don't really knwo what to say ... i think that it is just another line that has been imbread over and over ... and the bad thing is they are bread to chocolate which are a inbread gene as well... stupid i think will just mess up the bread ...

as them being hunting dog i really would think so ...not many off color white red labs are hunting dogs they have been bread for color not good genes and they are imbread ... kinda like Stouff if you think about it and we have all seen pictures of him  just playing man

Whenever breeders strive for color in their breedings, they are missing the most important part, and that is hunting ability. There are breeders ot there that try to get solid liver shorthairs on a regular basis. They are brushing over important traits in the dogs to get a rare color for the breed.

All this is, is another person trying to make a quick buck, and like Greg said, it is a good way to ruin breeds. :hammering:
