That thing is a Cecropia Moth larvae.
Big brown beautiful moth next spring if it lives through metamorphesis.
Look up Cecropia Moth on wiki.

Sauce piquant.

Indabros came by the camp after their hunt, and don'tcha know Swamp was bearing food and drink. Hope to try his etoufee and some backstrap at Dave's camp tonight.

It was sweet! Wind was out of the SE at 12-14, wind and sun was at our back. We got up at 3:30 in the field by 4:30 set up by 5:50, ten minutes to spare. Herd some birds flying as we set up.

First group comes in and floats right in front at 60 yards, then slides off and moves on. Second group does almost the same thing. Start looking around to see what's screwing us. Nothing looks out of place or sticking out. Spread had great movement. Had a small group of Ross come in, we knocked four out of it. Not our best shooting. But, oh well. Then nothing. Not another bird flew by in two hours.

Stopped by to talk to the land owner and give him some goose sausage. We find out that the field had been shot yesterday morning. What's weird, is that there were a ton of birds in it yesterday night just at sundown. Not this morning.

Good start to the season. Zero wind but at least the teal and redheads were working. Could not finish geese without the wind but I'll take it.

Just got permission on a combined wheat field that is holding a huntable amount of white birds. Also scored a quarter section, that has a big pond on it. Last year the whole quarter was covered with geese. Now it's just the pond. Gonna give it a couple days to fill up and finish out on the snows.

Finding lots of spots with Canada's, but the locals have a lot of those fields tied up. But there are more to find. Good luck to all hunting.
