To fix the fan pulley they want $1250 and $980 for the water pump. It aint happening. I called a Toyota mechanic and he said as I suspected that the dealership was feeding me BS. He quoted me $580 for pulley replacement and said the water pump is probably ok. I posted the truck on Craigslist just to see what offers I can get from it. In the meantime Im gonna pull the truck back home and figure it out.

You've got a lot to learn, son. Do what I do whenever I'm ready for a new vehicle -- sink existing vehicle it in the nearest lake (or ocean in your case), call the authorities and report it as stolen ..... and boom check from the insurance company arrives by the end of the week.

That sounds like a lot of work

You can fly baker and I down there for less than that we'll fix it then you take us fishing and buy us beer.

The truck has been a money pit for a while. Its time to retire it.

It probably needs replacing also. Years ago my engine light was on constantly and I got diagnostics that came back and said the fan clutch was bad. That was about 7 years ago.

if your fan clutch is frozen, then you might very well have damage to your water pump if the fan is on the water pump shaft.

How does a fan pulley seize? It usually just slips over the flange on the water pump shaft under the fan clutch.

Water pump is on the timing belt. Completely separate from the fan. My truck operates on three separate belts.

hop-some newer vehicles have the fan on a separate pulley...it seizes when the bearing lock up.

Ohio is probably closer to I-89/90. That would cut some time off.
