A really nice spring evening down here. Slight southerly breeze and hundreds of these things covering everything under lights. Spring has officially sprung.

June bugs. They appear every spring by the thousands.
"Adults begin to emerge in spring. During adult flights large numbers of beetles can be attracted to lights. Females, less attracted to lights, tunnel 2 to 5 inches into the soil and deposit eggs. In 3 to 4 weeks, small grubs (larvae) hatch from eggs and develop through three stages (instars), with the first two stages lasting about 3 weeks. The last larval stage remains in the soil from the fall through spring".

Here's how the casting deck turned out on the duck boat. Used the raptor liner that Baker pointed me to.

Bout to go to the store and but the stuff to make the custards tonight to chill in the frig. overnight....

We would have homemade ice cream often when I was growing up. I'm going to have to pull the old churn out of the attic and make a batch. Banana and vanilla was the most made flavors. Brought back some memories. I've "cranked out" many a batch of ice cream.
