My neighbor caught this one in the creek that runs past his back pasture. He was using nightcrawlers and a bamboo rod with a bobber.

I mean this with as little offense as possible, but, what kind of domestic nightmare is going on in that last picture? Are you cleaning fish in your bedroom?

They have really been hitting on top water lures lately. This one hit it like a ton of bricks. He snagged my line on a rock and broke it. I guess you cant win 'em all.

Biggest fish I've ever pulled out of the water. Granted, I shot it with a bow... And night... Under a spotlight... But it was really a huge carp, the picture doesn't do it justice.

How big is it, scaling off you I'm guessing 12-18 inches?

that is right where we caught that pike, got two walleye also but both a 1/4" short. we have been trolling body baits on planers and torpedo divers, maybe we'll try the bottom bouncers this time out. thanks

I thought it looked right in the pic, but its hard to tell from 1600 miles away. I have never done well on that lake with body baits other than in early spring. Speed is key on that lake, and gold always works. How'd you guys end up doing?

We have been out twice since that post, just got in actually. Tonight we got skunked, the wind was blowing real hard, couldn't keep the speed right so we drifted harnesses with leaches. Last time out we got three on body baits, we are fishing 45 to 50 feet o water and keeping the baits down around 30-35 and doing ok. Lots and lots of boat traffic as it has been almost a 100 degrees all week, I think that has them a little shy?

Boat traffic could be bothering them. I forgot to say that it's a morning bite lake. I have done decent in the evening but morning is where it's at. 8-noon is usually pretty good. I usually would run 2 bouncers on bottom and 1 long line harness about 15-20 down right at the bottom of the long break on the east side of the southern end, usually around 45 feet. If you get the speed right they will smack it. Too slow and they will short strike (usually, in my experience). Keep at it, it's a fun lake and can be fast and furious when you get on em!

That's a heck of a limit of wallygators. Only time we catch quality like that on our end is through the ice. Headed out right now to get some gills. If the heat stroke isn't too bad when I get home, I'll try to remember to take some pics.
