You don't need to be a callling champion to kill Ducks or Geese. A bad Decoy spread will Keep birds 100 yards out no matter how good of a caller you are.

I would have to say other. Scouting is 90% of the game. I am not an outstanding caller, but I still kill ducks. We used decoys that had most of the paint off of them and shot limits over them. I think if you are in "the spot" everything else will just fall into place.

In order of importance:
#1 being on the "X"
#2 concealment
#3 decoys
#4 calling

So decoys are more important.

:withstupid: I would have to agree with h2ofwlr it is in that order, but you need some kind of motion in your decoys too.

I voted decoys but if there was an "other" I would have picked it. IMO the most important thing is location. You HAVE to be where the ducks wanna be or it's not gonna matter what your decoys look like or how good of a caller you are. Just my opinion! :salude:

Id definently go with the decoys because if you went out to go hunt with no calls, but had a decent spread youre chances would be better then if you went out with no decoys and a couple calls.

H2 is exactly right.....ducks are far more sight orientated...calling is just icing on the cake...if it's good calling

Out of those two options I'd say decoys. Have you ever had birds splash down in the decoys before you saw even saw them?

In my timber hole, 90% of the ducks we kill come in with no calling. They just really like the spot and they must like our dekes too. There's been many times when I was standing there talkin to my friend and the next thing you know, we here ducks sailin in and look up to see them about 15 - 25 yds. out.
