need help identifying this duck

Postby bonbonjovi » Tue Nov 23, 2004 8:36 pm

i was fishing at lake mead last week and at the docks there were a whole slew of wild ducks but the ones that caught my eye were ducks that i know as a ringbill but these one all had cinnamon colored heads the same shade as a cinnamon teal, aren't ringbills with blue/black heads sorry no pixs but these ducks were beautiful i know they aren't crossbreeds because there were about 3 dozen... any info will be appreciated

Sounds like a redhead to me too. Could be a Canvasback depending on how dark the head was and head shape.

Canvasbacks don't have a ringbill though.
