Jack Miner Waterfowl bands anyone have one?

Postby charlie beard » Fri Feb 22, 2013 5:52 pm

Anyone have one of these unique bands that has been passed down to you?
I have seen one in my life.
An old duck hunter friend of mine had one.
His story was he shot a hen mallard in 1940 that had the band.
He passed on in 1969. Everything was sold at an auction so I may never know what become it.
I was in Canada hunting geese at the time and have kicked myself in the *** every since for not being at the funeral.

i shot a jack miner banded goose this waterfowl season, banded in 2008, i have been waterfowl hunting for 28 years and have never seen one shot, I know a few guys that have also shot a duck or goose here in NW Ohio. My band read "Be not afraid, only believe", very special day for me!

An older fellow who hunts with us has several of those. And yes I'm jealous!

I would hang on to a Jack Miner band if I were ever to come by one.

I have a buddy that shot a mallard in Arky last year with a JM band... Pretty awesome, it was his first and only band.

Shot one in 2010 that was banded in 1989. The goose was 21 years old and was the oldest recorded bird that year. Got a nice packet and dvd from the JM group. I have 2 to date, def a unique and special band!

Today.

7 other mallards and a woodie fell today, too. Vincent was along for the hunt. 20 yards, feet down, over the decoys.
